Ayrshire Branch Competition Derek Gardner Farrier Competition J & A Ferrie World Horseshoeing Classic

Derek, along with Steven Beane, Ricky Hilton and Nigel Fennell, formed 'Team GB' and travelled to Kentucky for the 2018 World Horseshoeing Classic.  Last year’s Champions, they posted consistently impressive scores, but lost out on the championship this time to finish a very impressive 4th overall. Team GB was one of 7 teams that travelled from the UK, being beaten only by Team Scotland who finished in 3rd. The competition was tough, incredibly well organised and they had a superb time. Defending Champions and a New Team

Derek will be returning to the World Horseshoeing Classic once more to defend the title. "3 days, 18 teams, 72 farriers, one prize -- WORLD CHAMPIONS". Taking place on 21st - 24th February 2018 in Kentucky Derek will be one of the team of four which includes Steven Beane, Nigel Fennell and Ricky Hilton. Ricky takes Darren Bazin's place this year and it has been great to have him back out competing again! 15 teams of four from across the world took part in the three day World Horseshoeing Classic hosted by the Kentucky Horseshoeing School. This year the competition was judged by Dusty Franklin (USA), Aaron Steeves (Canada) and Allan Ferrie (Scotland). Derek was part of Team GB alongside Darren Bazin, Steven Beane and Nigel Fennell who pulled out all the stops on the final day to overcome a deficit in points to be crowned CHAMPIONS!
